podcast introduction
Emily Perron - Writer, Speaker, and Productivity Coach
When Emily Perron left her corporate career in 2015, she had pursued three careers in 10 years. She started out teaching preschool, moved on to working in event planning, and then pivoted into marketing at a Fortune 500 company. All while earning a Masterβs Degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology.
Burned out and unsure what was next, she started a business and pivoted some more. Career coaching. Creating courses. Resume writing. Recruiting freelancers. Consulting on organizational strategies.
Along the way, Emily unlearned everything she had been taught at work and at school about setting goals, being productive, and finding meaningful work. She often experienced self-doubt because the path through her career and business were so unconventional. But thatβs the thing with unconventional path. It is different... but it's also distinctive.
Emily has discovered that standing out isn't always a bad thing. If it brings you more success in our modern world, more joy in your day-to-day life, and more freedom in your work. Then, it seems like we have no choice but to do things differently.
Today, Emily writes, speaks, and coaches creative entrepreneurs, freelancers, and individuals at all levels to appreciate their unconventional career paths and tap into the power of their unique Zone of Genius so that they can experience more success, joy, and freedom in their work.
When sheβs not working, you can find Emily reading, enjoying the outdoors, and relaxing with some knitting. She and her husband live in Wisconsin with their son and love spending time together.
